Wood laser engraving, warm look, precise detail
Wood reacts beautifully to the diode laser. You get a natural, brown contrast with high detail. A great fit for hospitality, interior, gifts and promotional items.

Suitable materials
- Solid wood (beech, oak, walnut, cherry)
- Plywood and bamboo
- Softwoods for stronger contrast
Typical applications
- Wooden and cutting boards with logo
- Wooden menus for restaurants
- Door signs, wayfinding and room signage
- Decor for shops, restaurants and trade fairs
- Wooden boxes, gift packaging and hang tags
- Personalised gifts with names
How wood reacts to the laser
The laser removes the surface in a controlled way and lightly burns it. That produces the typical dark brown tone. The effect is permanent, water-resistant and food-safe as long as the raw wood is untreated or oiled with food-safe oil.
Hardwoods look more elegant and refined, softwoods produce stronger contrast. We recommend the right material for each use case.
Real-world examples
For restaurants we engrave menus, chalkboard replacements and serving boards. For companies we produce gift boxes with logos, anniversary signs and personalised gifts.
Frequently asked questions
Is the engraving on cutting boards food-safe?+
Yes, as long as the wood is untreated or maintained with food-safe oil. We recommend re-oiling the engraved area from time to time.
Can you engrave lacquered wood?+
Sometimes. Clear lacquers work; thick top coats may discolour. We test the material beforehand.
How large can the workpiece be?+
The engraving area is around 38 × 38 cm. The workpiece can be larger as long as the area to engrave fits inside the work envelope.
